REI Compass™ uses only a small set of essential technologies — cookies, tokens, local storage, and similar mechanisms — that are necessary to operate and secure the platform. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or third-party behavioral analytics.

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device to remember information between visits. "Similar technologies" — such as browser local storage, session storage, and authentication tokens — perform comparable functions and are covered by this Policy as well.

Cookies and similar technologies can be classified as either essential (required for a service to function) or non-essential (used for analytics, personalization, or advertising). REI Compass™ currently uses only essential technologies.

The technologies REI Compass™ uses today are limited to those required to deliver core platform functionality:

• Security and abuse prevention
• Bot protection
• Password reset flows
• General platform functionality (such as remembering that you are signed in as you navigate)

REI Compass™ uses Cloudflare Turnstile to help protect signup, sign-in, and password reset flows from bots and automated abuse. Turnstile issues a short-lived challenge token that verifies the request is coming from a legitimate browser.

This helps keep your account — and the platform as a whole — safer without requiring you to solve traditional CAPTCHAs. Cloudflare processes this information as our service provider to protect the Service.

REI Compass™ uses Supabase Auth to power secure account functionality, including:

• Account creation
• Sign-in
• Password reset
• Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
• Session management

Supabase Auth issues secure session and refresh tokens that keep you signed in across page loads. These tokens are essential to the platform — if they are cleared or blocked, you will be signed out.

REI Compass™ may use browser local storage and similar client-side storage mechanisms to:

• Support secure sessions and keep you signed in
• Remember platform preferences (such as UI state)
• Improve the overall user experience across page loads

This information is stored on your device and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

REI Compass™ currently does not use any of the following:

• Advertising cookies
• Behavioral advertising
• Facebook Pixel
• Google Analytics
• Hotjar
• Mixpanel
• PostHog
• Unnecessary third-party trackers

You can manage cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies and site data on a per-site basis. Consult your browser's documentation for the exact steps.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as our technologies or the platform change. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the application or by email.
